Station Breaks: Regis' last day and more

Regis Philbin will exit Live! with Regis and Kelly on November 18th.  Don't look for his replacement to be named by Disney-ABC Domestic Television soon.  There will reportedly be a parade of guest hosts, including unknowns, who will try out until a successor is declared.  In the meantime, expect a long goodbye with favorite guests returning to say their farewells and pay homage to Philbin who hosted the program for 28 years.

Eddie Murphy as host of the 84th Annual Academy Awards broadcast?  Why?  His last movie, "Imagine That" in 2009 made $16 million and he hasn't had a hit since "Haunted Mansion" in 2003, except for his turn as the voice of Donkey in the "Shrek" series.  One reason may be that Murphy is opening this November in "Tower Heist," directed by Brett Ratner, also a producer of the Oscars. Another may be that you can't do worse than James Franco and Anne Hathaway who hosted last year.  Or, Ratner, his fellow producers and ABC believe viewers will tune in to find out if Murphy says or does something shocking.  That's my bet.

Four prominent members of the cast of One Life To Live have signed on for the Prospect Park online production that will succeed the ABC version which leaves the airwaves in January.  They are: Erika Slezak (Victoria Lord), Ted King (Tomas Delgado), Michael Easton (John McBain) and Kassie DePaiva (Blair Cramer).

Ben Flajnik, 28, will be the next victim on ABC's The Bachelor.  Let's hope he's not rejected a second time as he was by Bachelorette Ashley Hebert this past season, even though he's the one doing the picking this time.  Flajnik lives in the San Francisco area and is in the wine business.  The show will air in January 2012.
