Dick Clark's name will remain on the program he hosted for many years, despite his passing earlier this year. Ryan Seacrest will carry the torch. |
The show will keep its name, but Ryan
Seacrest will be the host. (Technically it's called Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest.)
This year's show will feature Carly Rae Jepsen and Neon Trees joining headliner Taylor Swift. They'll perform live from Times Square in New York City beginning at
8 p.m. eastern on December 31.
On the West Coast, Fergie
of the Black Eyed Peas will be the host with performers like Brandy, Flo Rida, Karmin, OneRepublic, Pitbull and more artists to be announced at a later date.
The ABC night-long presentation will begin with a two-hour celebration of Dick Clark, hosted
by Fergie and Jenny McCarthy, "New Year's Rockin' Eve Celebrates Dick
Clark." It will celebrate, through clips and reminiscences, the
legendary television personality and producer who rang in the New Year
for four decades and launched and nurtured the careers of countless
artists. Seacrest will appear on the program.
Beginning
at 10:00 p.m., ET, Seacrest will host "Dick Clark's Primetime New
Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2013" from New York, with Jenny
McCarthy returning to interview the revelers in Times Square.
On both the East and West Coasts, events will include more than five and a half hours of special
performances and reports on New Year's celebrations from around the
globe. Seacrest will lead the traditional countdown to midnight
with the ball drop from Times Square.
