Brian Williams Ratings Up for Nightly News

NBC announced today that its “Nightly News with Brian Williams” was the most-watched network evening newscast for the week ending February 8, 2013, according to Nielsen Media Research data.  That's the 178th time that's happened consecutively and it's happened 225 out of the past 226 weeks. The NBC broadcast averaged 9.640 million total viewers, +1,012,000 more than ABC “World News,” and +2,158,000 more than CBS “Evening News.”

This marks Nightly’s best total viewer delivery since the week of November 19, 2012 and best advantage over World News since the week of December 17, 2012.

“NBC Nightly News” Weekly Highlights:
  • Nightly delivered 9.640 million total viewers, +12% (+1,012,000) more than ABC World News’ 8.628 million and +29% (+2,158,000) more than CBS Evening News’ 7.482 million.
  • Nightly averaged a 6.4/12 Household rating, ahead of ABC’s 5.8/11 and CBS’ 5.0/9.
  • On Thursday, Nightly averaged 10.260 million total viewers, the best single-day delivery since December 14, 2012, and the biggest single-day advantage over World News (+1.416 million) since December 20, 2012.
  • Nightly delivered a 2.2 A25-54 rating, +2 tenths ahead of ABC’s 2.0 rating and +4 tenths more than CBS’s 1.8 rating.
  • Among A25-54 (000), Nightly averaged 2.643 million viewers, +14% (+315,000) viewers ahead of World News’ 2.328 million and +23% (+502,000) ahead of Evening News’ 2.141 million.
  • Nightly has topped World News in A25-54 (000) for 220 consecutive weeks.
  • Versus the same week last season, Nightly was up +1% in total viewers and +4% among Women 25-54.

Quarter and Season-to-Date Highlights:
  • Versus the 1Q’13 average, Nightly was up +5% in total viewers, +5% among Adults 25-54, +9% among Women 25-54, and +5% among Men 25-54.
  • Season-to-date, Nightly leads World News by +785,000 total viewers, and by +349,000 Adult 25-54 viewers.
