Ratings for The Chew Week Four Flat and Still Behind All My Children

We’ll continue to report on ratings for The Chew, which replaced All My Children, as long as there’s interest and boy is there interest.   (See comments in previous posts.)

AMC lovers will be interested to know that its replacement had ratings only slightly higher than the previous week and, again, is not beating its predecessor. Though, as many have noted, ABC is still making more money since it’s plenty cheaper to produce The Chew than it was to produce All My Children.

Here are the ratings for each show, year to year, and the comparisons for the weeks The Chew has been on the air.

  1. Pretty sad. And ABC cancelled AMC for this clunker! The Chew may be cheaper to produce but it sure isn't generating much payback for the sponsors. And how low do the ratings have to go before ABC euthanizes its Colossal Mistake?

    2. I don’t see the point in the Chew. It’s no different from the programming found on PBS Create series. Even has some of the same people. All this without commercial interruption. So why would anyone watch the Chew? AMC gave viewers another choice.

  2. Where are the most recent ratings... week of 10/24? The trend seems to be that The Chew is building an audience. I love the show. I just made Michael Symon's spinach salad for my son. He doesn'normally eat spinach but he loved it.

  3. These are the most recent ratings. Those for the week of October 24th will not be available until the end of this week.

  4. I hate this show. I've tried watching and it's awful. I have despised Mario Batalli for years, find Carla whatever difficult to watch as I am distracted (unfortunately for her, I hate admitting this) by her ungainly appearance. Daphne Oz is way too hefty to be telling people how to eat healthily (and this from a size 12 mother of 1, I gained 80 lbs and have only lost 60) and all she tells people is to get food from Korean BBQ's that don't exist where I live! Micheal Symon has a creepy laugh, but I enjoy watching him cook (he doesn't talk) on Iron Chef. Clinton Kelly is the only person I enjoy (not) listening to out of the cast. He doesn't have enough energy to catch people's attention.
Bottom line: I was angry as a hornet when they cancelled the (boring, I admit) AMC. I loved watching that show and fast-forwarding through the bad parts. I was not happy about the change, less happy about the replacement and the combined two equals my severe dislike for The Chew. If ABC replaces General Hospital I think the channel will be in for a bad run...They're lucky for their Wednesday night line-up. Once Upon a Time and Last Man Standing aren't bad either. Grey's Anatomy (Puke), Private Practice (Double Puke) are so awful now, and Desperate Housewives is ending. ABC needs to re-evaluate their audience.

  5. What they don't show in the ratings are how many men and boys are watching. My whole family watched AMC, The 56 y.0. dad, the 54 y.o. mom, the 18y.o. girl and the 16y.o. boy. NONE of us are watching The Spew.

  6. I would also be interested in the male demographic for The Phew. I watched AMC for years and am now in my 60's. I loathe what little I've seen of this sad cooking disaster amd will not watch it. I was upset and immediately changed the channel when the lead in Chicago news show had a segment talking to the Phew cast. This can't be helping affiiates ratings...

  7. I cannot believe that 1.9 mill people are watching that show. I really didn't think 300,000 would watch it. Are people just so addicted to TV that they will watch anything? It is a sad day for soap fans.

  8. I hate the show! I cannot stand Carla shes an eye sore AND annoying What were they thinking seriously?
I can't say I have sat through a whole show but I can say I never will! As for the food? Most kids i know wont touch most of the CRAP they serve up!

  9. The show gets better every week and the audience trend looks good. Bashing The Chew isn't going to bring AMC back.

    1. Well first of all nobody is bashing the show some people simply do not like it at all it is boring and has no intrest at all in watching a show that has to do with food then after that a show that tells you how to lose weight makes no sense at all ...I think we should have some kind of say is to what we want to watch on tv is was very relaxing to come home from work and sit down put my feet up and watch my soaps that have been on years I grew up watching those shows and I loved them my kids who are 11 and 13 used to come home and watch them now we have no intrest in watching that channel at all it sucks....they will see it was a big mistake especially when those 2 new shows they put tank and get no kind of ratings.....so please stop it

  10. My daughter and I love watching The Chew together every day. I think everyone needs to get over the fact that your soap opera has been cancelled. It's not coming back on the air. I'm not saying that this show is here to stay, but your show is not coming back. FYI, Daphne Oz is no where near "hefty".

    1. why put on a show that tells you how to cook then an hour later put on a show that tells you how to lose the weight . How stupid is that if you reallt need to no how to cook there is a thing called cook books. And if need to lose weight there are gyms out there as if.................... Channel 7 AND 8 are dead they have the most boring shows so the people that watch that crap need to get it

  11. Everyone keeps comparing the 2011 Chew ratings to the AMC 2010 ratings. Who cares what it was getting in 2010, the chew seems to be getting about the same ratings that amc was getting in 2011

  12. Seriously, did we really need another food show when there are channels dedicated to food? ABC could care less about the soap fans and I hope the The Chew goes down in flames. I have since switched over to The Young & the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful because I feel ABC was very unfair to the cast and crew of AMC......why move them to California in 2010 to cancel them in 2011?

  13. I hope The Chew goes down in flames and ABC loses big with that disaster. Albeit, anything they would have put on to replace AMC would have pissed me off anyway, but come on, yet another food show. Sheesh, enough already. I can't wait for AMC to be online. ABC sucks.

  14. I cannot stand to watch The Chew. I have that remote in my hand to turn the channel at 1pm! Even the poor audience, doesn't seem to be thrilled when I have accidentally flipped over ABC while it's one. I'm not saying bring back AMC, just listen to the viewers that they dislike the spew. The commercials for the Revolution, make the show look horrible too!

  15. I thought that AMC had its run. Although I am not the cook in the family, I enjoy this show with its many facets. I am pleased to see the crew is developing chemistry. SOAP OPERA fans, read a Harlequin instead.

  16. The Chew is hard for me to digest. How long will it be before they try another cheap reality show?

  17. the Chew SUX...ABC execs made a HUGE boo boo

  18. I would love if ABC execs realized the error and bring AMC back!!!!!!!!!!

  19. I don't know who could stand watching the chew the cast are just horrible. I tried to watch this but just can not it so lame. I hope ABC learns from this and keeps One Life To Live on the air they will have no ratings

  20. most ratings this show gets is because we forget to turn the channel and leave the cable box on that channel while at work... lol..

    ReplyDelete
  21. I can't say it's bad or good, I simply do not watch it. I hate talk and reality shows and am not interested in cooking shows. The only thing that might have me watching the Revolution is Tim Gunn, I love that man. He's the reason I watch Project Runway.

  22. I will not ever watch this cheaper alternative show that we all know probably sucks. We all know abc makes a lot of money and getting rid of amc was pure greed. Oh well, I have since switched networks and watch their soaps. I like hearing the ratings aren't good.

    ReplyDelete
  23. if ABC sees the mistake they made, will they still get rid of One Life to Live anyway? and make yet another mistake. they can still change their minds.

    ReplyDelete
  24. ABC isn't smart enough to do that. I hate TPTB at ABC and I hope they are all fired!

  25. Soaps are so ridiculous with unrealistic storylines, terrible acting, and fake everything! I love the Chew! The hosts do not act or look fake and artificial, they are funny, their topics are current, and their guests are interesting. ABC has a few flops on their lineup, but this is not one of them!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I hate the Chew. I don't even watch ABC Daytime with the exception of the View. I tend to watch the Investigation Discovery Channel now during those slots. ABC should bring the soaps back. Hire some well known actors that aren't little teeney boppers but classy elegant recognizable faces and bring the ratings up. The Real Housewives Series is more like what Soaps used to be. So maybe the writers should watch a few of those shows and see how people like to see fancy gals fight and compete in business as well as personally.

  27. There is a snarky, mean-spirited edge to the Chew Crew. Clinton is much more in his element on WNTW than here. The cast seems to have no camaraderie, and their banter (annoying) just sounds forced. Not a fan.

  28. THE CHEW SUXS TOMATOES! They cancelled AMC for this crap. Even the co hosts are BOARING. WHAT ARE YOU THINKING ABC! Bunch of crap on tv now a days

  29. WHY DO WE NEED ANOTHER COOKING SHOW! IF WE WANTED ONE WE COULD GO TO THE FOOD NETWORK. MOST PPL NOW A DAYS HAVE CABLE ANYWAYS.

  31. Not me I won't watch either of them suck shows and thats what they are! These people on the chew look like they never get a bath or visit a barber nor do they know how to put makeup on man I wouldn't trust their cooking if you paid me. If you paid me I wouldn't even watch them no matter how much they paid me. I'm scared to even look at them. Hope they wash their hands folks! Boy abc did you screw this up. I won't watch that other stupid show revolution either. I will watch other soaps instead. Money hungry loosers

  32. I am through with ABC.. We understand it is all about money so they will lose. My Revolution is not to watch ABC Revolution of Day time TV.
