Ben Flajnik
(pronounced Flannick), rejected by Ashley Hebert, the last Bachelorette, is the new Bachelor on ABC.
The network announced today that the
businessman and winemaker will begin his own bid for "true
love," choosing from among 25 bachelorettes, when the 16th edition of the reality series, The Bachelor, premieres MONDAY,
JANUARY 2 (8:00-10:00 p.m., ET).
The
29-year-old Flajnik claims to have been in love three times (Ashley being the
third), but has only proposed the one time, according to ABC. But, they say, he is confident that, having found
love on "The Bachelorette," he will find his soul mate and a lasting,
love-filled relationship this time on The Bachelor.
Flajnik grew up
in Sonoma, California, but left for Tucson before he started high school
because of his dad's job. His mother is a teacher of third grade
"gifted students." Ben stayed in Arizona to attend the University of
Arizona, majoring in music production with a minor in business. He
started his career in Internet
advertising but later took up wine making. He and two partners entered the
wine business three years ago and currently have multiple wine brands. He now lives in northern California where he plans to remain for the foreseeable future.
The new reality star likes crab fishing, sailing, golf, skate boarding, surfing,
playing piano and singing in a tribute band. He has a Jack Russell Terrier named Scotch.
