Again, readers of this blog are focusing on ratings for The Chew on ABC, which were up slightly from last week, but have leveled out. The program premiered at 2.10 million viewers in late September. The numbers decreased somewhat, and now they’re back up to their original level, albeit slightly higher at 2.158 million.
The Chew
is still trailing its predecessor, All My
Children, and it’s not picking up steam. I think it’s safe to say that people are sampling it, but
they’re not recommending it to their friends and it’s not gaining.
In daytime, overall, ABC (2.71 million viewers) is trailing CBS (3.25 million) and beating NBC (2.29 million).

All My Children should return to daytime television. We have enough cooking shows. The ratings for the Chew is still lower and that should say something about daytime viewers. BRING ALL MY CHILDREN BACK...
ReplyDeleteGet rid of the stinking "THE CHEW". Want to see ALL MY CHILDREN back on daytime TV.
ReplyDeleteHeck yes! AMC should've never been taken off. I don't see it returning though. At least, not in the form it was.
ReplyDeletemaybe they need to make it a tv series..look i need to see what happened next. who did jr shoot.
ReplyDeleteI think the chew increased rating because of the holiday cooking season. I feel after the holidays the chew will sink. I feel bad for the cooks.
ReplyDeleteThe Chew is terrible. These "chefs" seem to think they are funny. They are not. The mugging and body gyrations are ridiculous and detract from any real cooking going on. Get rid of them.
ReplyDeleteNeed All my children back.
ReplyDeleteWhat is wrong with ABC
The Chew is all chewed up. The public has spoken and wants the return of All My Children and the continuation of One Life to Live. How many other shows can claim that kind of longevity (there is a reason...the viewers? The ABC hot shots need to listen to the public and what viewers really want to see.
ReplyDeleteABC has Chewed themselves out of daytime TV, they might as well be cable!!!! They pissed off the wrong demographic AND put a bunch of world class actors out of work, since I think they knew all along Prospect Park was a total bust!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm betting the Chew will be gone b/4 the new show The Revolution goes on air in January.
Wonder how long it'll be before Brian Frons is on the unemployment train?
BethH - 43 yr ABC soap fan.
I am a 30+ year viewer of AMC and was/am deeply dissapointed that it is off the air...however i did give The Chew a fair shake and can honestly say/hope its not a show that will last! Who are these people anyway? They are not funny and watching them cook couldnt be more boring. ABC really missed the bus on this one. Goodluck ABC ... I see ratings are down from even the poor ratings AMC was bringing. At least AMC had loyal viewers!
ReplyDeleteThe chew teaches us how to cook, the revolution tells us that the food the chew taught us how to cook made us fat. Wonderful way to get veiwers to watch abc dayime. If I wanted a depressing afternoon,I would watch cnn all day...BRING BACK ALL MY CHILDREN AND ONE LIFE TO LIVE...AND SAVE GENERAL HOSPITAL...
ReplyDeleteWake up ABC...Shame on you for taking All my Children and One life to live off for The Chew. A show that clearly no one wants to watch. Well, you made your bed now it's time for a long terrible sleep. You should have listened to your viewers!
ReplyDeleteI am very disappointed that ABC decided to replace the soaps with another cooking show. I hope that the executives reconsider their decision and bring back All My Children and continue running One Life To Live.I feel that the fans have expressed their feelings and ABC should listen before they lose many viewers.
ReplyDeleteI think will be cancelled because like many of the other comments there are to many cooking shows!
ReplyDeleteI refuse to watch ABC daytime now that All My Children and One Life to Live has been canceled. I saw a clip online of The Chew. It seemed more like The View than Rachel Ray, even more boring.
ReplyDeletei have been boycotting the chew since it started and will continue.Show like that belong on cable with all the other cooking shows or the morning shows that have chefs on everyday. Leave the loyal abc soap fans at least One Life to Live.
ReplyDeleteABC LISTEN TO YOUR FANS!!!! It is not what you want, it is what WE THE FANS WANT TO SEE PERIOD. Disappoint your fans, WE WILL DISAPPOINT YOU, PERIOD!!! BRING BACK AMC,OLTL AND SAVE GH PERIOD!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is clear the ABC does not care about their viewers or their employees. They only care about the bottom line. Here's hoping their bottom line drops just like they dropped all the employees that worked for AMC and OLTL. I work out of my home and turn on ABC in the morning to keep me company throughout my day. I have been a loyal ABC viewer for over 40 years. Good Bye ABC!
ReplyDeleteI have not watched one episode of The Chew and I won't. The commercials are bad enough that I wouldn't watch it even if they didn't replace AMC. I won't be watching The Revolution either and I love TY! The ads for it seem like drivel as well. ABC was at one time the top in television but, is now lower than daytime cable. I do miss AMC and will miss OLTL. But, there is no way I will be watching either of these lacking mental stimulating simple minded shows, that seem to be geared to the 9-10 year olds instead of to the adult audience.
ReplyDeleteThe Chew is HORRIBLE!!!
ReplyDeleteI refuse to watch the chew. I will start watching young and the restless instead.
ReplyDeletelol with all the advertising they have done for The Chew ABC has to be in the RED.....lol they never advertised AMC like they do now and the viewers were still more than The Chew has acheived pay attention ABC this was a stupid idea!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI still won't watch the Chew. Sorry ABC. You lost me as a daytime viewer.
ReplyDeleteHow embarrassing for ABC that The Chew is such a flop!! As many have stated, there are too many cooking shows on TV as it is. The real problem is, the show is boring, the chefs(?) are basically unknown to the viewers, and they just shouldn't be on air. I agree with the comment about The Revolution. Who is the dummy who thinks that it will be a hit? Oh gosh, I forgot. It's probably the same goofy person who is promoting The Chew. It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things as we will be watching other networks.
ReplyDeletePlease - no more Chew. ABC is losing all credibility for entertainment.
ReplyDeleteIf I wanted to watch a cooking show I would tune in to the Food Network! The only way I will ever watch ABC again is if they put All My Children back on the air. I bet CBS and NBC are loving all the new viewers they're getting from ABC's stupid moves. I am really enjoying The Young and the Restless.............geez, anything but "the chew"!
ReplyDeleteYes, bring back AMC, I watched it for 30 yrs and hoped to watch with my girls just as I did with my mom. There's a foodnetwork for shows like the chew.
ReplyDeleteVery awkward cast. Everyone of them is annoying in their own way... Maybe if they all didn't think they were so funny or had better writers it would just be annoying but not grooling annoying. I want to know who was like "OMG YES THIS IS SUCH A GREAT IDEA!" who let this be aired?? Who had the final signature??? Really?? No one was like "this is not going to work" what a waste!
ReplyDeleteI think it's safe to say that viewers are sick of the saturation of talk and reality shows. There's a reason why soaps have been on for decades. Network TV needs to stay loyal to the fans.
ReplyDeletefind a way to bring AMC back... you're professional tv people, listen to us and FIND A WAY! the chew stinks... we want our soaps back!
ReplyDeleteif a show has been on for 43yrs, they must be doing something right.besides you don't get weeks of reruns as per reg shows.
ReplyDeletetv is way too saturated with cheap, reality crap.
you can't kick loyal fans to the curb, without expecting a backlash.[and the show's were brian frons' idea]and now we pay the price.
The "Chew" is the most annoying show! Hosts that are OVER zealous and if I want to watch a cooking show I'll turn on "The Food Network". When I watch 10 seconds of this show I feel an anxiety attack coming on.
ReplyDeleteLet's see if THE CHEW can withstand 40 years of viewer loyalty!
ReplyDeleteI grew up on AMC the show did not need to go off the air maybe they needed different writers we need ALL MY CHILDREN the Chew sucks... I do everything I can until one life to live comes on.. The show needs to be called "The BITE" watching AMC one life to live is like family .. put it back on...
ReplyDeleteWho's kidding who? It was all about the money and how cheap it is to produce The Chew! I am 45 years old and have watched All My Children and One Life to Live since I was little. I watched it with my mother and grandma. I used to try to figure out how to stay home from school before VCR"s when something good was about to come out. I doubt that they even know how many of us out here really watched them. I knew and know people who would tape both shows and would watch them later or even on the weekends. With Soapnet people were able to watch it in the evenings. My sister worked in nursing homes and one television would have twenty viewers or more watching these soaps. How many of these viewers were even counted? Maybe we should have tried an old fashion mailing dump at ABC. If there mail rooms were loaded down with actual letters, maybe they could have counted the true number of viewers. Not like their minds weren't already made up. It's to easy to ignor e-mails and such. As far as boycotting, I don't have to. I have absolutely no interest in any of the replacement shows. I used to watch ABC local news at noon, but now I have no reason to even turn it on. Admit it ABC you are just cheap!
ReplyDeleteI too am upset that All My Children is off the air. I met someone the other night who was just as upset as I am. She said she had been watching for 29 years. I told her I have been watching since its inception. What a shame to have taken an icon off of the air. As far as Brian Frons goes...his contract is up in Jan.of 2012 and he is gone! Too bad he didn't leave sooner before all his damage was done. I hope that a network picks up AMC at one point. We can only hope. In the meantime, I will boycott the Chew as will the friend I met the other day. I will miss AMC as it was a part of my routine. I taped it at night and would relax and watch. Hopefully, another network will pick it up!
ReplyDeleteI am a big fan of cooking shows and i really like Clinton, and Michael, but the show is really really bad. They talk so fast, the recipes are just sometimes very uninspiring and they try to pack too much in 1 hour. They need to slow the pace, get rid of the two girls, quick trying to talk over each other. I don't know how this will stay on much longer. Its really bad :(
ReplyDeleteI watch ABC from 2pm to 4pm when I do not work and I watch soapnet every nite . When I'm off I watch OLTL and GH twice a day in case I missed, something during the day.I refuse to watch ABC there isn't anything I want to waste,my electric on except 4 the 2 soaps. Big mistake. I heard JR from AMC is on the BOLd and the Beautiful I'm going to check that soap out. ABC you made a big mistake. Before One. Life to Live and GH goes off the air think again. I hope another net work will pick them up like CBS or nbc watch the ratings if that happens.
ReplyDeleteBRING BACK WHAT VIEWERS WANT....ALL MY CHILDREN!
ReplyDeleteI have BLOCKED The Chew from my TV!!
I have watched The Chew once and have never watched again. I think ABCmessed up big time canceling AMC ....Why they not listening to the viewers. Please bring AMC back
ReplyDeleteABC datime is off since AMC was cancelled - I don't watch the chew - I think it's terrible that the episodic shows are being replaced with this drivel. If we want cooking, we have plenty of other places (and better ones) to click on. Once OLTL us gine, I will be watching either CBS, NBC shows - I think pure dee GREED was the reason the soaps were cancelled... it's much cheaer to have these folks cooking and chatting than having actors, sets etc. The soaps were making money for the network for sure - they had a gazillion commercials - but ABC wanted to make more money with less expenditure and so the viewers and the actors got it in the neck. BRING BACK AMC, OLTL and keep GH!
ReplyDeleteWhat looks good on paper always seems to hurt the little guy or in this case the viewers. I am so angry that abc took AMC off the air for that stupid show The Chew, show us the people that you care about us, admit you made a huge mistake and give AMC back to us.
ReplyDeleteCan't stand Mario Vatelli (spelling)?. I hate to say it, but his hygiene is appalling. I have seen him more than once on different shows cough into his hand, then handle food. Ugh!!DISGUSTING!
ReplyDeleteOn one show he did his coughing thing and then handed a guest a piece of bread and the guy just took it and put it down on the table. It was hilarious!!! We couldn't stop "eweing" and laughing at the same time. He does it on the Chew also. Whats wrong with the producers? Are they blind or just stupid? The show stinks.
I can't believe ABC cancelled AMC and One Life to Live for these lame shows...The Chew is such a joke. The most pathetic cast of losers. And what an original show....The Revolution looks just as bad. It's a shame that ABC executives got so cheap. The reason people like soaps is that is the only original programming on TV anymore. Anyone other than me sick of reality TV, cooking shows, talk stupid health show. I am only 41 and have been watching my ABC soaps since I was a teenager. I will never watch ABC again! I am even changing over to NBC for my news now too!
ReplyDeleteI've read all of the comments and it seems to me that no one likes this this show... I think ABC made a huge mistake by canceling the soaps. Shows like the chew and the revolution are not gonna have all the loyal viewers that AMC & OLTL had... Good luck ABC
ReplyDeleteI always looked forward to my lunchtime break and watching All My Children. I miss it so much...
ReplyDeleteThe Chew is horrendous and I can't imagine anyone wanting to watch Tim Gunn yakkity yak about clothes yet again whan they can see that all they want of Project Runway. What kind of "revolution" is that? We can see people talk about clothes elsewhere but where else can we see Vicky and Dorian get into a heated argument, or Todd murder his brother, or Tea fly into a rage and drop-kick a lamp across the room, or Jessica transform into Tess, or McBain solve a murder, or Roxy get her words confused, or Natalie get thrown off a roof by Marty, or Nigel become horrified as Clint falls for an ex-stipper who's more than half his age, or Cutter, Rex, David, Brody, Nate, Christian, and Robert Ford flex abs and biceps? LOL. It is very important that OLTL continue. and they should bring All My Children back too.
ReplyDeleteI will never watch the chew maybe if it were on foodnetwork but I want ALL MY CHILDREN BACK!
ReplyDeleteABC/Dis and Ricky Rat et al want all the cheese for themselves and have no respect for the viewer. That is plain to see. They took the quality away from their daytime viewership and replaced it with the visual equivalent of a cheap, made in China, McDonald kids happy meal, throwaway toy! And when these shows go under, they will probably be replaced with paid programming! Oh, and don't forget how we need to cut taxes for these "job creators", HA! Well, Ricky Rat, you showed me how much you care about me and mine. Let me return the gesture by tuning your channels out too!
ReplyDeleteI have watched AMC since day one! But you told me that we don't want it anymore..we want cooking shows! If that is so true..WHY did you take another cooking show OFF the morning run? I am talking about Rachael Ray. You moved her from the 10:00 spot to 1:00am when your age group who would watch a cooking show is sound asleep to get up for classes or work in the AM.
ReplyDeleteTaking our shows off has nothing to do with what WE want..it's all about the money in YOUR pockets!
If we were all so desperate for cooking..your ratings should be over the roof....not down in the mud!AMC had higher ratings..so that tells you what we want.
Who were these people you asked what they wanted? No one has ever found even one person who was asked. Was it some of Fonz imaginary friends? Had to be...no REAL person would of voted for something so STUPID!!!!
I can't believe this I can't stand the Chew I don't turn my tv on until ONE LIFE TO LIVE comes on they will not get ratings from me!!!! The PEOPLE have spoken abc!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI miss AMC & I will miss OLTL. I tried to watch The Chew but it sucks. Please bring back our soaps. My grandma used to watch her stories when we were little & we want to continue this tradition. I used to watch ABC from 6:00am till bedtime most days but not anymore. Maybe I'll try another soap on another station.
ReplyDeleteI miss ALL MY CHILDREN soooo much. It gave me sonething tr o look fwd ti in the afternoond, or on dvr as I folded clothes after my kids were in bed. I am 37 yrs old and as a little gurl watched w/ my mom prob fir abiut 30 yrs..my mom, btw, misses AMC so much as well. We both HATE the chew..because of thxgiving, I gave ita quick glance..I think they are all annoying, the nen are pretencious, the young blonde chick looks dumb, and the tall lady is so wierd and quite unattractive.. and I heard that whoever cncld amc got fired..well, at least there were some reprocussions...very bad decision...i wish so much u would bring them back...BRING BACK ALL MY CHILDREN!!!! Fir once, listen to your viwers!!
ReplyDeletethis chew thing reminds me of the onfo mershal of the bullet lol the lady with the big cigarette hanging ot her mouth.... thats the black haired lady on chew. that show is stupid. and the big dude is nasty. i am banning all abc shows even the evening shows. good luck abc.
ReplyDeleteso happy to hear that the ratings for the chew are so low. Bring back AMC to its rightful place.
ReplyDeleteso happy to hear that the ratings for the chew are so low. Bring back AMC to its rightful place.
ReplyDeleteI have watched All My Children since high school and was so sad to see it go. Even though I hadn't watched as faithfully as I had in earlier years, (yes I feel a bit guilty about that) But still..I did check in regularly enough to keep up with important things (who they brought back from the dead and Erica's most recent husband......All My Children is good ol campy fun...we have laughed..cried...ripped our hair out at times.... and enjoyed every minute of it....I too felt as though I had lost a dear old friend.....I join the millions (I hope) of fans who will boycott "The Chew" or any other show ABC runs in All My Children's timeslot. I promise to never miss another show (or at least record the series) if they will bring All My Children back..I'm geussing the ratings would go thru the roof if they did.
ReplyDeleteI Think the chew is a joke
ReplyDeleteBRING BACK ALL MY CHILDREN. The last thing I want to watch is cooking crap. I boycott ABC faithfully at 1pm on purpose. If I was you, I would re think about taking one life to live off the air.
ReplyDeleteBRING BACK "ALL MY CHILDREN"!!!!!!!! The Chew won't make it to the summer, mark my words... it's an embarrassment of a show!
ReplyDeletePlease bring all my children back! the Chew will not last please bring AMC.
ReplyDeleteMaybe if we strat boycotting the advertisers that are paying for ad space on the chew, that will cause them them to rethink putting our show back on
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone think the ratins for The Chew are better because the very end of the show records on your DVR at the beginning of One LIfe To Live????
ReplyDeleteGood idea don't buy any prducts advertised on ABC I don't turn ABC. Except 4 OLTL and General Hospital and I turn it on 5min after 2 don't want the chew to get any ratings from my soap. I know nobody cares what we say but we are loyal to our soaps. In 2 weeks ABC will never go on in my home. And the Revolution is another joke.
ReplyDeleteI am not anonymous. ABC will live to regret taking the soaps off the air and replacing them with such mindless dribble. Not only am I not watching "The Chew" or "The Revolution" - horrible names for tv programes - but I am encouraging anyone I encounter to boycott them. Not that it apparently matters. "The Chew" is imploding and I bet "The Revolution" does even worse. This decision will effect people like Tim Gunn and Katie Couric in a bizarre way. Loyal soap viewers will (wrongly) regard them as being in bed with the Devil. But so be it. ABC is doomed to fail!
ReplyDeleteThe Chew is the most mindless show I have ever seen. It is so bad it is painfully to watch. I am insulted that ABC thought that we would prefer such a ridiculous show over AMC and soon OLTL. You have made a huge mistake and offended your loyal viewers! Shame on you ABC.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all comments regarding how bad The Chew is....I cant add anything else except to say this has to be the worse show I've ever seen.
ReplyDeletei think the chew belongs on food network not on abc bring back all my children
ReplyDeletei think the chew should be on food network not on abc bring back all my children
ReplyDeleteAm appalled that the Chew stays on till the top of the hour where are soaps stop 5 min before the hour if they collect ratings based on when I switch the channel, they can go Chew themselves, come Monday all will know when ABC goes BLACK!!!!!!! Put back our SOAPS!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAm appalled that they allow the Chew to stay on until top of the hour, when our soaps are over 5min before the hour. CHEW on this ABC come Monday you will all know why for 2 hrs no one is watching your stupid replacements for our beloved and deeply enjoyed SOAPS!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am in agreement with everything that has been said. I have also made the decision to boycott the show "The Chew", even though I do like Carla. I have not watched her on The Chew, but I have enjoyed her on The Food Network "Top Chef". I also do not plan on watching "The Revolution" I love Tim Gunn and Katie Couric, but my love for AMC and OLTL trumps anything that I feel for them. I would watch any of these shows on another channel, but not ABC. This channel was always reserved for my favorite soap operas, but not anymore. Someone earlier mentioned poetic justice, but in my opinion I think it was poetic justice the way AMC and OLTL ended their last shows. We are all left with unanswered questions of who did JR shoot in AMC?, What was Victor doing tied up to the bed in OLTL? Didn't Todd kill him? I mean there are so many unanswered questions that we as dedicated viewers have a right to have answered, and as a viewer it makes us even more angry. I mean REALLY!!! How are we suppose to find out what happened? This is just a suggestion: April 1st air the return of AMC and OLTL shows. Call it "April Fools Gotcha!" We were joking with the viewers with those 2 shows "The Chew" and "The Revolution" and it was all for publicity. Ha Ha Ha, but now the joke is over and AMC and OLTL will return during its regular time. Sorry for the inconvenience! In all seriousness it is my hope that you guys will come up with something that will demonstate that you value the opinions of the many ABC dedicated soap fans. After all as long as AMC and OLTL were running I think you can thank the fans for enabling you to have a pay check, until someone got greedy. But that's another story. PLEASE DO THE RIGHT THING!!!
ReplyDeleteGood bye ABC you are out of my home now never again will I turn on that network until the soaps come back on. At least we can see our stars like John McBain and the others that went to GH until you get rid of them too. I will turn on soapnet at 9pm .
ReplyDeleteI agree Your gone abc
ReplyDeleteBRING AMC AND OLTL BACK OR I WILL LEAVE AND BE CONTENT WITH HBO AND SHO AFTER REVENGE, GREYS ANATOMY, AND THE PRACTICE SEASONS ARE OVER!! HELLO DO YOU LISTEN TO YOUR VIEWERS?!!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't resist writing again I am wathingGH on soapnet and ut saw a commercial forr the revolution since I don't turn on ABC since the soaps were cancelled. It is such a waste who on earth could watch an hour of that or the chew. OMG what on earth were they thinking. I am happy with the writers of GH they r thinking its going to be great to see the OLTL cast they r talking about it now. I want to thank them at least we can have a piece of OLTL.
ReplyDeletecan't stomach "the soap" but the "chew" I think I could somach if Ms.Dr Oz was not on. And why is she getting so much camera time lately. Daddy must hav made some calls.
ReplyDeleteI live in a small city of almost 17,000 people, not counting the small townships in my surrounding area that are not a long distance call. I have been calling people in my calling area since The Chew took over the time slot for AMC. After almost 5 months of calling 4 hours a day, I have only gotten 15 people who like The Chew, 29 people who watched and will not watch again. and more than 7720 people who say they have dropped ABC, and 4226 who only watch GH on ABC. I'm sure some of you are asking how I find the time to call so many people. I am one of the baby boomers over 60 with plenty of time. I use the 2 hours that I used to watch AMC and OLTL, plus 2 hours in the evening. Many of my evening calls are to younger people who work, but taped the soaps. If my little corner of the world is pro soaps. I'm sure their are more thumbs down on The Chew out there. So are we getting the actual figures as to The Chews high ratings? I will continue calling until my calling area has been called. I will will then start calling long distance, since I have unlimited long distance.ABC bring back our soaps or fall by the wayside.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! Take charge. Hope your efforts pay off.
DeleteThe numbers for watched has stayed the same, but the numbers for watched and will never watch again has risen to 532. The numbers for dropping ABC have risen to 7853. Looks like the higher-up ABC employees will be looking for work soon. SMILE Susan (Erica)and Robert (BO)
DeleteABC bring back AMC and One Life to Live, these replacement shows are pathetic and I refuse to watch them. I turn my channel over to HGTV in the afternoon and leave it there till 4 pm when Young and the Restless comes on
DeleteThis show has no substance. I do not understand what went into the decision making process when choosing the 'chefs'. I do like Michael. He does contribute alot and has a great personality. But the two women are horrible and take away greatly from the show. Daphne is so insecure with herself and it comes out in her interactions with the others. She is not a good fit with the team. Carla acts like a kook. She acts like she is 'wired' on something and it makes her very annoying. Mario is OK except for his hygiene. It is not OK when he coughs on the food. Disgusting. I don't understand why Clinton is on the show. He has nothing to contribute. Mario and Michael have great chemistry, but the others clash. Don't understand the decision making process that went into choosing the members of the team. Very disappointing!
ReplyDeleteBring back All My Children. The Chew is a sad replacement.
ReplyDeleteBring back AMC. TV keeps getting worse each year with all the boring new and older shows. Realty TV is boring and silly. Too many doctor shows, cooking shows, and talk shows, which are also getting tiresome and boring. I'm glad I have alot of movie tapes I can watch so I don't have to look at all the garbage on TV these days. Hope the idiots that cancelled AMC and OLTL lose their jobs and no one else hires them.
ReplyDelete
