GMA Beats Today during Savannah Guthrie's First Week

Even though it was Savannah Guthrie's first week as the new host of NBC's Today, ABC's Good Morning America won the week of July 9th in total viewers (4.570 million), according to Fast National Preliminary Live + Same Day Nielsen data.  That's three consecutive weeks in the top spot for ABC and number seven in the past 14.  Additionally, GMA led Today (4.213 million) during the week of the 9th by its largest margin of victory (+357,000) in more than 17 years (week of 5/15/95).
 
In adults 25-54, ABC News' Good Morning America finished in a virtual tie for No. 1 with NBC's Today (1.709 million vs. 1.711 million) for the week. With only 2,000 Adults 25-54 viewers separating the two programs, GMA delivered its closest news demo performance with Today in nearly 17 years - since the week of 9/11/95.
