Dancing (with the Stars) Beats Singing (American Idol):

ABC is claiming victory for Tuesday night's TV showdown between Dancing with the Stars (the 14th Season Grand Finale) and the penultimate episode of the 11 season of American Idol.

ABC reports that it qualified, with 14.6 million viewers, as the most-watched network on the final Tuesday of the season and May sweeps, outdrawing Fox (11.0 million) with its Tuesday finale of "Idol" and the season finale of "Glee" by 3.6 million viewers.

The alphabet network also had more than double the audience of NBC (6.5 million) which aired "America's Got Talent" and a "Dateline 20th Anniversary" special (+8.1 million viewers or +125%).

By its own admission, ABC finished a solid second to Fox, with Adults 18-49, beating NBC for the night by 24%.
